 Lost. Confused. Disappointed.

I don't know when it happened precisely. The map stopped looking familiar. The destination became a memory instead of a location. The blurryness of fog settled in and we hunkered down for relief to come. But it didn't come.

What started as challenges to patience, devolved to questions of the very essence of life. Second-guessing of choices. Skepticism about purpose and destiny and future. Feelings of impotence in our ability to be causal agents. More mystery than understanding about the things outside this world.

What if this is all there is? Lost in a world without meaning, purpose or destiny. Violently beating and screaming to break through transparent walls only to find you haven't changed a thing. The world has continued wandering by.

I remember times of fury and passion. The feeling of fire inside over something you would give your life for. What good is a torch without a fire. A warrior without a batttle. A life without breath.

Oh for something outside of this skin that would make me feel the wind of destiny again...

breathe fire.

Jesus said, "I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!" - He's all the passion, purpose & fire you need.

Thanks for reading. Whether you take the hermeneutic of final judgement or spirit empowerment for that particular passage, neither moves the winds that fill the sails nor sweeps the dust from this desert.

Hang in there, friend. My own fog/desert is beginning to lift after more than four years... no fun. I wish I had already written something inspiring, drawn from what we've been through recently, but I'm still digesting it myself. Not sure that you will want to see the grist, but it's yours for the asking.

Grace and strength to you, brother!
